Windsor are through to the third round of the FA Vase – where they will visit Erith Town – after negotiating a tricky away fixture at Chichester City on Saturday.
Their hosts had one of the best home records in their division, and started the game brightly before Dave Herbert was sent off for a wild lunge at Dan Roberts.
The Windsor striker was able to avoid serious injury, and paid his hosts back in the 43rd minute when he met Fabio Nunes’ cross to volley home via the aid of a deflection.
Windsor made a habit of winning well away from home in the Vase last season as they reached the quarter-finals, and they made sure they made another solid start in the competition when Matty Stockill smashed home the side’s second in the 53rd minute.
Again Roberts was involved, beating two men with some trickery before curling the ball over for Stockill to fire home.
Windsor made it through to the third round of the FA Vase on Saturday, after an excellent away win over in-form Chichester City.
Windsor were resolute in defence, restricting their hosts to long-range efforts at best, while Victor Ocansey and Darren Abbey covered every blade of grass to curb Chichester’s attacking threats. In goal Hugo Sobte caught, parried, punched away and saved everything that was thrown his way.
Chichester’s frustration boiled over again before the end, when Kieran Hartley was shown a straight red card for an off the ball punch out at Jamie Di Guiseppe in the 88th minute. They finished the tie well beaten and depleted to nine men.
Windsor have been drawn at Erith Town in the next round, with the game set to take place on Saturday, December 1.
The draw for the next round of the League Cup has also been made, with Windsor set to host Hellenic League Division 2 West side Moreton Rangers on Saturday, November 17.
