Consultation launches over proposals to lower speed limit on 35 Colnbrook roads

03:27PM, Friday 07 November 2025

A consultation on a proposal to introduce a 20mph speed limit on 35 roads in Colnbrook to address local concerns over speeding opened today (Friday).

Since 2022, the Colnbrook Community Association, local councillors and the parish council have been engaging with Slough Borough Council’s (SBC) transport team to explore ways to introduce the lower speed limit scheme in Colnbrook.

Several roads are being considered for the implementation of a 20mph speed limit, and the council is seeking comments and views on the proposal.

These include:

  • Popes Close
  • Moreland Avenue
  • Moreland Close
  • Drift Way
  • Beacon Court
  • Brookside Road
  • Willow Close
  • Rayner Close
  • London Road (From a distance five metres east of its junction with Crown Meadow to its Junction with Horton Road)
  • Crown Close
  • High Street Colnbrook
  • Bridge Street
  • Park Street
  • Bath Road (From its junction with Albany Park to a point 80 metres east of its junction with Meadowbrook Close)
  • Vicarage Way
  • Mill Street Road
  • Albany Park Road
  • Tall Trees Road
  • Dawley Ride Road
  • Coleridge Crescent
  • Hunstanton Close
  • St Thomas Walk
  • Aintree Close
  • Winchester Close
  • Raymond Close
  • Rodney Way
  • Laurel Close
  • Fawsley Close
  • Myrtle Close
  • The Hawthorns
  • Daventry Close
  • Polar Close
  • Sherborne Close
  • Ingleside Road
  • Meadowbrook Close

Traffic calming measures are also being proposed for Horton Road, as residents have raised concerns over vehicle speeds in the area.

A speed survey was conducted to assess current driver behaviour and the results showed that 85 per cent of vehicles were travelling over the 30mph speed limit.

The council said it is proposing to install traffic calming measures such as rumble strips, speed humps and vehicle-activated signage to boost compliance, reinforce speed awareness and improve overall road safety.

These would be introduced on Horton Road, in the section starting 50m of its junction with Popes Close, towards its junction with Bath Road/Colnbrook High Street.

Councillor Paul Kelly, lead member for planning, parking, highways and transport, said: “These proposals will address concerns locals have had for many years and make it safer for those who live, work and travel through Colnbrook.

“I urge people who use these roads and would be affected by the speed limit change and traffic calming measures to have their say by going to the consultation webpage and completing the survey.”

The consultation will remain open until Friday, November 28.

Following its conclusion, officers will review the feedback and if there are no objections, the works will be introduced under a permanent traffic regulation order.
