It’s a shame there was such a tiny turn-out for Near-ta Theatre’s inventive musical comedy on Thursday.
A bigger audience would have boosted the atmosphere and enjoyment of this clever and funny piece of theatre.

Set in a prison cell on Christmas Day, Toby and Charlie aimed to celebrate with what they had to hand, which ranged from toilet brushes to tea-towels and lots of imagination.

Taking festive favourites such as A Christmas Carol, pantomimes, Christmas TV and films – excellent  recreations of ‘The Snowman’ and ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ - Christmas songs and The Queen’s Speech, Lewis Howard and Daniel Richards worked hard to win over the small crowd, succeeding with a wonderful West End parody called ‘Nativity - The Musical’ .

There was a ‘Fringe’ feel to the performance and like Christmas, it had its moments, but I felt a larger and more receptive audience would have added to this seasonal silliness.
