Manny Williams: 'Burnham FC have not been fearing anybody'

Manny Williams revealed Burnham FC have ‘not been fearing anybody’ after they got one over Windsor FC at the weekend to extend their undefeated streak in the Combined Counties Premier Division North.

A point wouldn’t have been enough for the player-manager on Saturday, so he was grateful to see the Blues emerge victorious on home turf thanks to Leo Decabo.

Having won four times and drawn just once in their last five matches, the Blues have hauled themselves into 12th place in the division and are keen to keep moving upwards.

“We’re flying and the boys have definitely set the standard. We’re not fearing anybody,” said Williams.

“Even in my first game in charge, at Frimley Green, they set the tone. We lost but I was over the moon with the performance, and it was the best I had seen from a Burnham side in a while. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength.

“The team has no fear, they have loads of confidence, and we will continue to climb that table and see where we end up come the end of the season.”

According to Williams, the side have overcome the banana skins of the division and are now focused on scalping the teams above them, including fourth-placed Abbey Rangers who are Burnham’s opposition this weekend.

“Games in the past that would have been banana skins for us, like Holyport, we have succeeded in those games. It’s about scalping the teams that are above us now,” Williams added.

“We are going away to Abbey Rangers on Saturday, who are currently fourth, but we’re definitely going there to win the game.

“Burnham have got this character now where a draw isn’t enough. We drew the game at Edgware and the boys were disappointed. That just goes to show how high they’ve set their standards.

“Make no bones about it, we will be going to Abbey Rangers to win the game.”
