Danny Whitehall, in action against Bracknell Town FC
Danny Whitehall insists the Magpies ‘didn’t deserve to get beat’ by Dover Athletic on Tuesday night.
The forward made an instant impact for the Magpies after being brought on, drawing the game level with a floated free kick placed into the top left corner.
Whitehall admitted the goal meant very little however as Maidenhead succumbed to a second Dover goal 15 minutes from full time, which ensured the visitors travelled back with all three points.
“It’s always nice to get your name on the scoresheet but at the end of the day, it didn’t count for anything so I’m disappointed we didn’t get the win,” he said.
“I thought when we did score we were right back in it and on top of them.”
Reflecting on Dover’s first goal, Whitehall added: “It was a bit against the run of play so I think we can consider ourselves a bit unlucky at times.
“A few decisions either way might have gone in our favour but I don’t think we deserved to get beat.
“1-1 was probably a fair result, if not 2-1 to us.
He added: “Anyone in the ground will tell you that when we scored that goal, we were the team on top and we were the team most likely to score another.”
