Slough Fire Station has been upgraded as part of a refurbishment programme spanning several months.
Works to modernise the station in Tuns Lane have been taking place since autumn last year after a substantial investment from the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority.
The project, which follows similar refurbishment schemes at both Maidenhead and Bracknell fire stations, featured various major upgrades to the station.
These involved improvements to the station’s amenities, including rest spaces and improved washroom, shower and wider management facilities.
Mark Arkwell, deputy chief fire officer at RBFRS, said: “The works at Slough are part of a broader programme of improvements designed to make our estate more in keeping with the requirements of a modern, high-performing fire and rescue service.
“Each refurbishment project has had a focus on key themes.
“These include mitigating the risks to our staff from contaminants that they might encounter at emergency incidents, improving our facilities to support the needs of a more diverse workforce, and creating spaces that are more sustainable; both financially and environmentally.”
Last August, a new Water Rescue Unit was created at the station to boost the service’s water rescue capabilities in East Berkshire.
Since then, several new facilities have been added to the station to support the new Water Rescue Team.
Firefighters continued to operate from the station throughout the entire project.
Works at the station were completed last month.
