An entrepreneurial cook has become a social media star through the launch of her 30 Ramadan Recipes series.
Content creator Zaynah Din, from Langley, has attracted hundreds and thousands of followers on TikTok and Instagram by posting tasty recipes to break the fast during the holy month.
The 22-year-old, who studied at Langley Grammar School, launched her social media page @zaynahsbakes while she was studying at sixth form.
But after spells working for Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, she decided to go it alone and pursue a career in content creation full-time.
Zaynah said: “In February 2022 I started my Ramadan Recipes series where I started posting 30 recipes for 30 days of fasting throughout the month of Ramadan.
“That basically blew up and completely took over and my followers went from 0 to 100,000 in a couple of weeks on TikTok.”
She added: “Social media is so accessible for everyone. The majority of my followers are in the UK but some are in Pakistan and the Middle East.
“When you’re watching a video it doesn’t necessarily need to be in a certain language.
“Anyone can watch it and follow along and understand the recipes. A lot of the success has come from people sharing it with their friends.”
Zaynah started out baking cupcakes and desserts and delivering them around Slough.
But her repertoire now sees her rustling up Pakistani-inspired dishes which are ideal for families to serve during Ramadan.
“I’m Pakistani and my family are Pakistani so I like to cook first with Pakistani dishes.
“Everything I cook has a South Asian influence. As you go through the recipes there’s a fusion of Italian and Indian food or English and Pakistani food,” Zaynah said.
But what about the challenges of cooking while she is observing Ramadan?
“I enjoy cooking so much it makes the time pass. In the day I would much rather do something which takes me all the way to sunset so I can eat,” Zaynah said.
“In the future I would love to have my own restaurants. I’m currently writing a cookbook which I announced on my Instagram recently.
“I would love to have a Netflix cooking show or a TV cooking show at some point. I’ll do it eventually.”
