The closure of a number of stores in one of Slough’s main shopping centres is coming in the next week ahead of major redevelopment.
A multitude of shops on the western side of the Queensmere shopping centre will be closed from Monday, January 16 and relocated elsewhere, with brands including Adorn Beauty.
This is to facilitate British Land’s plans, which were granted outline planning permission, to redevelop the Queensmere shopping centre into 1,600 flats, new shops, restaurants, leisure, offices, and public open space.
In July, the developer announced it was partially closing that section of Queensmere with plans to relocate Sports Direct, YES Slough, and Divine Rescue.
The western side will be boarded off and the entrance from Wellington Street and Mackenzie Street will be blocked off.
Most of the units in that part of the mall are currently vacant.
The eastern side of Queensmere and the neighbouring Observatory shopping centre won’t be affected.
A Queensmere shopping centre spokesperson said: “On January 16, Queensmere Observatory will be part-closing. We are relocating shops to make the rest of the centre more vibrant for shoppers.
“These changes will not affect the Observatory section of the shopping centre. There will be lots of exciting changes that result in a more diverse and enjoyable shopping experience.
“You can find out more about the part-closure – and the plans for the redevelopment of the Queensmere Shopping Centre – at www.sloughcentral.com.
