Slough Town have confirmed that Reading FC loanee Jacob Borgnis will remain with the club until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has been an almost ever present for Scott Davies’ side since joining the Rebels on a shorter-term loan deal in November.

He’s helped the Rebels pick up five victories in that time, results that have lifted the club out of the National League South relegation zone and up to 18th in the table – four points from safety.

Borgnis made three first team appearances for the Royals earlier in the season and scored in the Vertu Trophy.

The plan is that he’ll continue to gain valuable minutes and experience playing senior football in the National League and return to Reading at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Malta international Basil Tuma has also seen his loan deal from the Royals extended until mid-March (March 17).

The forward had been in lively form for the Rebels over the Christmas period, prior to his sending off in the Boxing Day clash with Maidenhead United. He was a real threat to the Magpies in the first half of Slough’s 3-1 win before receiving his marching orders from the referee after a robust aerial challenge on Chanse Headman.

He will now get more chances to feature and continue his development with the Rebels and Davies is delighted to have both for a little while longer.

“Both Borgy and Basil have been superb,” he posted. “Can’t speak highly enough of their attitude and performances, so to be able to extend their loans is great news for us all.”

Slough Town are in action at Chippenham Town this evening (Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm)
