Slough keeper Jack Turner, who saved a penalty at Bath City.

Bath City 2, Slough Town 0

The Rebels felt crucial decisions went against them as they went down 2-0 at promotion chasers Bath City this afternoon.

The hosts took the lead after 28 minutes when Freddie Hinds capitalised on a mistake from Sam Togwell to go round Jack Turner and slot home.

There was a dramatic start to the second half when Slough conceded a penalty which Turner saved, and the Rebels felt they should have been awarded a spot-kick themselves following claims for a handball in the 87th minute.

It wasn't given and City went on to wrap up their win in the first minute of stoppage time when James Morton who chipped Turner after being played in by Hinds.

Afterwards joint manager Neil Baker said: "Decisions in football can be so key. Can’t deny Bath deserved the win, as they are a very good side and Jack (Turner) had to be at his best, however we have had a nailed on penalty not given with five to go after staying in the game, which you need to do away. Fans in great voice as usual."

It's a tough spell for the Rebels who have slipped to 12th in the table. They're next in action at home to 13th placed Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday (March 2).

Chipstead 1, Marlow 0

Marlow's play-off hopes suffered another knock as they were beaten 1-0 at Chipstead.

The game's only goal was scored by Ezekiel Bademosi with 20 minutes to play.

Manager Mark Bartley through on Kelvin Bossman, Jordan Edwards and Allen Bossman in the final 20 minutes but the Blues couldn't salvage anything from the fixture.

Defeat bumps them down to fifth in Bostik League South Central Division - just three points ahead of Tooting & Mitcham in sixth - ahead of Tuesday's crucial home game against third placed Cheshunt.

Abingdon United 2, Flackwell Heath 0

The Heathens failed to build on their encouraging mid-week cup win at Brackley Town Saints as they went down 2-0 to struggling Abingdon United.

Weary from their extra-time Supplementary Cup victory over the Saints on Wednesday, Marcus Richardson's men conceded twice in the second half to lose this one.

Abingdon, who came into the clash off the back of a jarring 5-1 defeat at Windsor last weekend, took the lead in the 55th minute, despite the best effort's of the Flackwell keeper Watkins who saved their initial effort.

There was also an element of fortune about the hosts' second, the ball coming back off the post before being nodded in by the United skipper on 66 minutes.

Flackwell go to Malmesbury Victoria in the Floodlit Cup quarters on Tuesday  before hosting Binfield at Wilks Park this Saturday. They're now 10th in the Hellenic Premier Division.

Binfield 0, Windsor 2

Two goals from Dan Roberts gave Windsor a solid 2-0 away win at Binfield this afternoon.

Striker Roberts will take the plaudits for his goals, but this was another very good all-round team performance from the Royalists who've now won their last three league matches on the spin.

Roberts - who's dual registered with Slough Town - fired the visitors ahead in the 21st minute before making the points safe in the 71st minute, finishing from Luke Brooks-Smith's assist.

Victory lifts them to eighth in the Hellenic Premier Division and, due to their involvement in cup competitions this season, they still have matches in hand over many of their rivals.

They'll meet Binfield again in the quarter-finals of the Floodlit Cup at Stag Meadow on Tuesday before hosting Ardley United on Saturday in the league.

Milton United 0, Burnham 0

A frustrating day at the office saw league leaders Burnham held to a goalless draw by Milton.

Aiden Higgs came close to giving Paul Shone's men an early lead, but in truth this was a close affair and the Blues' strikeforce were kept on a very tight leash.

Despite recent setbacks, the Blues still hold a healthy seven point lead over second placed AFC Aldermaston in Hellenic League Division 1 East. However, that lead has been whittled down in recent weeks.

They host Penn & Tylers Green at The Gore next Saturday.

Chalvey Sports 0, Holyport 1

Adam Sharp was a hero at both ends for Holyport this afternoon, making a crucial block in the first half before scoring the winner in the second.

Sharp headed in the game's only goal in the second half but the visitors were indebted to their keeper Quelch for preserving a clean sheet.

In the second half he pulled off a series of good saves while Chalvey also struck the crossbar. Port also had their chances however, with Fabian Driffill striking the bar through a free-kick.

Fifth placed Port are next in action at home to Woodley United on Saturday week (March 9).

Reading 1, Rotherham 1

The Royals failed to take their chances as they were held at home by Championship relegation rivals Rotherham United.

The hosts took the lead through a well-worked team goal, Garath McCleary cutting the ball back for Ovie Ejaria to finish from inside the box on 32 minutes.

The had several more chances to put the game to bed either side of the interval, with McCleary shooting straight at the keeper in the 76th minute.

And those misses proved costly when Semi Ajayi rose highest to score from close range on 79 minutes.

The Royals had some gilt edged chances late on but couldn't take them and it's looking more and more likely their relegation fight will go down to the wire.

Afterwards boss Jose Gomes said: "Against teams that play like Rotherham, even if you are a goal ahead, you cannot be satisfied. From corners, free-kicks, throw-ins, they can create something. So the lesson learned is we have to try and score a second."

The result leaves Reading just outside of the relegation zone, level on 30 points with third from bottom Rotherham. They visit bottom club Ipswich Town next Saturday.

Wycombe Wanderers 0, Gillingham 1

The Chairboys poor recent form continued as they went down 1-0 at home to the Gills.

Regan Charles-Cook settled a tight affair with a goal in the 84th minute.

Wanderers will rue their failure to take a series of chances. They're 12th in League 1 ahead of next Saturday's trip to Peterborough United.
