More than 500 people attended the Windsor Guildhall today (Wednesday) for a public open day to mark the 20th wedding anniversary of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The historic Guildhall, which was built during the reign of William III and Mary II in the 17th century, was the venue for the pair's wedding on Saturday, April 9 2005.
Thousands of people had lined the streets of Windsor on the day to get glimpse of the pair.
The couple arrived at historic Windsor Guildhall to tie the knot at 12.30pm, before leaving shortly before 1pm to return to Windsor Castle.
Between 10,000 and 20,000 people were waiting in anticipation to get a glimpse of the newlyweds.
The then Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall waved at the crowds as they left the Guildhall.
Following a service at St George’s Chapel, the couple greeted well-wishers from a range of charities and organisations in the Horseshoe Cloister.
To mark the milestone anniversary, the Guildhall and the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum opened its doors to the public for an exhibition and tour.
Visitors got the opportunity to see inside the Grade-I listed building for free and learned about royal weddings in Windsor through a small exhibition in the museum.
They also enjoyed a guided tour of the Guildhall on the day.
In the council chamber, a floral display designed on the theme of Royal Windsor by local florists was on show.
Guests also learnt more about how the Guildhall is used today, including as a licensed wedding venue.
The registrar team and Guildhall event team were on hand to help anyone considering tying the knot at the Windsor Guildhall.
A Royal Borough spokesperson said: “We’re delighted that over 500 visitors attended our public open day at the Windsor Guildhall, to see where the marriage ceremony of the King and Queen took place twenty years ago.
“We welcomed generations of visitors from the local area and around the world, who enjoyed the opportunity to discover the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum and the unique royal heritage of this building.”
