Three Maidenhead Rowing Club junior scullers represented Great Britain last weekend at a very high standard Munich Junior Rowing Regatta which featured 900 rowers from 15 nations.
On Saturday Edoardo Marshall and Elliott Kemp raced well in the double and exceptionally well in a quad, where they won their race with crew mates from Tideway Scullers School and Chester-Le-Street, beating fast national crews from Czech Republic, Poland, Croatia, Austria and one German club’s crew.
Victor Kleshnev raced in a single in a strong field of 36 scullers. He won his heat with a significant margin and with the second time of the day earned the place in the A final against strong juniors from
Germany, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Belgium and another GB rower Laurence Joss.
Kleshnev remained in third place for most of the race, but on the last 500m he overtook a Swiss rower to claim a memorable silver medal.
On Sunday, Kleshnev raced in a quad which won their heat and proceeded to the A final where they finished third, winning bronze.
