A first look at the next phase of a major development at the former Horlicks factory has been unveiled by its developer.
Berkeley Homes is set to release a new collection of apartments at Horlicks Quarter, designed to reflect the architecture of the town’s locally listed factory building.
The housebuilder has announced the launch of The Maltings, the latest phase of the regeneration project, with homes going on sale on Saturday, February 7.
Berkeley Homes said the first phase of Horlicks Quarter is now complete, with 550 homes finished, and The Maltings will add a further 116 apartments.
The new collection includes one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, and unlike the original factory building, The Maltings will provide residents with private outdoor space.
The Slough factory was first opened in 1908, and Berkeley Homes has been working on the major regeneration of the site since May 2020 in a project which will result in the construction of almost 1,300 new homes at the Horlicks Quarter.
Berkeley Homes said The Maltings are designed as a ‘respectful nod’ to the ‘architectural legacy’ of the former Horlicks Factory.
The refurbishment of the iconic red-brick factory has been the centrepiece of the project, with the building now also featuring a private cinema, a fully equipped gym, and a rooftop terrace.
The developer is also behind plans to build 1,600 homes in Slough's town centre as part of a major revamp of the Queensmere and Observatory shopping centres.
Dave Taylor, Design Director, Berkeley Homes, said: “Horlicks Quarter has always been a site with deep cultural and architectural significance, and our priority has always been to respect that legacy.
“By taking cues from the original factory and designing with both respect and purpose, with The Maltings, we’ve created homes that feel rooted in the history of the place while meeting the needs of modern living.”
