A premises licence application to relocate a snooker and pool bar in Maidenhead High Street to the former Wilko building has been submitted.
Racks Snooker & Pool Bar has been located at 63 High Street for a number of years.
Now, a licensing application has been submitted to the Royal Borough by Leary Cue Sports Limited to move the current club into the first and second floor of the former Wilko/Poundland building at 23 West Street (rear of 88-90 High Street).
Construction work began toward the end of last year to turn this into flats and retail units, with permission granted last April.
The open plan games venue would offer facilities for snooker, 8Ball Pool, 9Ball pool and darts.
The ground floor would feature a bar area to sell alcohol and hot and cold drinks, while the first floor would include snooker tables.
The licence also covers recorded music, the sale of alcohol (for drinking on-site only) and late-night refreshment.
Proposed opening hours for the pool hall are 9am to midnight - going on until 1am on Friday and Saturday night, and on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
The sports and music licence covers the same timings, while the supply of alcohol would be from 10am until 11pm, and until midnight on Friday, Saturday and Christmas Eve. For New Year's Eve, it’s proposed to extend this to 12.30am.
A few details help ensure the licensees meet their obligations. For example, gaming machines will be located in the bar area with clear signage stating strictly over 18’s only.
CCTV will be installed in all areas of the club, there will be drug kits on the premises such as spiking kits and drink covers will be offered.
Disposal of waste is planned for during the day ‘to avoid any noise to our neighbours from glass etc’ and the club will try and minimise as much noise from deliveries as possible.
A decision on the application is pending.
To view the application type in the reference 107272/LAPL01 in the licensing portal on the RBWM website.
