A new family entertainment centre packed with everything from bowling to bumper cars is set to take over a major unit in Slough High Street this autumn.
Mega City is headed up by Jeet Grewal, Mandeep Dhanoa and John Dhanoa, who are the same team behind the Airport Bowl in Heathrow.
Having seen the ‘huge potential for growth and commerce’, the trio have embarked on a project to expand into Slough with a new venue at the former Wilko unit.
The centre, due to open in October, will feature a range of activities for all ages, including an arcade, bumper cars, VR arenas, karaoke rooms, augmented reality darts, and party rooms.
There will also be flashpads, bowling, batting cages, a laser tag arena, lazer mazes, digital clays, a bar and a restaurant.
The venue will be suitable for any occasion from birthday parties and hen/stag dos to casual nights out and corporate events.
Following a futuristic theme, each floor will feature a unique design, with the top floor highlighting Slough’s industrial past.
The new venue will also provide employment opportunities to the local community across a range of sectors including retail, construction, hospitality, technology and administration.
The project has been in the pipeline since July 2023 and aims to help ‘revitalise the area and bring in footfall’ from surrounding areas such as Windsor, Reading, Oxford, London and beyond.
The former Wilko site was chosen due to its ‘prime position’ in Slough town centre, the site’s ‘spacious layout’, and the location being near amenities such as the railway station and accessible parking.
As part of the project, the team has plans to add two mezzanine floors of 10,000 sq ft to the venue so the ‘enjoyment can be fully maximised’.
Over the last few months, colourful hoardings advertising the transformation have been seen on the windows of the former store.
Through these hoardings, the team said they wanted to ‘pique people’s interest’ in the new centre and the activities that will soon be available.
They explained that the pink and blue colours reflect the ‘theme, playful vibe and dynamic spirit’ of Mega City to give people a ‘taste of the energy they can expect when it opens’.
Jeet Grewal, manager at Wellstone Developments, said: “We’re very excited about opening Mega City in Slough.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to rejuvenate the High Street and create an exciting destination for the community.
“Over the next few months, our focus will be building strong connections with local businesses and the community while ensuring everything goes smoothly for the grand opening in October.
“We hope Mega City offers a unique experience that draws people from near and far.”
