Holyport have jumped up to sixth in the table after a comprehensive 5-0 win over Abington Town on Tuesday.
Derek Sweetman’s side are starting to catch up on the games in hand they have over their rivals and have put their top four challenge firmly back on track in recent weeks.
They came into this game off the back of some disappointing news, with Chris DeFranco ruled out for several months by an ACL injury.
But they didn’t let that hold them back against The Abbotts. Port should have been out of sight in the first half, but had only a couple of strikes from Fabian Driffill to show for their efforts.
Steven Deverall’s sublime lob, which bounced in off the post, made it 3-0 before he completed his brace to make it four.
Andy Forisky capped off the scoring from Alan Akerman’s pass to complete a thoroughly satisfying evening which also saw Adam Sharp return from injury and play 70 minutes.
Port, who still have matches in hand on the sides above them, are back in league action a week on Saturday at home to Woodley United.
