Following a highly competitive selection event over the Easter bank holiday weekend, Windsor’s Mallory Franklin has once again been selected to race for Great Britain this season.
The Windsor athlete spearheads the British team, having won an Olympic silver medal in the C1 women's class at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The first stop on the international circuit for Mallory and her teammates is the European Championships, which will be held from May 26-29, followed by the ICF World Cup Series and the World Championships in July. These will be the first international racing events to take place in the Paris 2024 Olympic cycle and the World Championships in Augsburg, Germany, are set to take place on the 50th anniversary of the Munich Olympic Games.
Franklin won a record eight individual international medals back in 2018 but her silver medal in Tokyo last summer was her first Olympic medal. She and Kimberley Woods – also selected as part of the 10-strong British canoe slalom team – went on to win silver and bronze respectively at the 2021 World Championships. They were also part of the team which won a K1 women’s team gold medal at the championships.
Burnham Park Academy and a scenic spot near Windsor and Eton Bridge are among the locations to feature in a new romantic drama on Netflix.
