Becky Atkinson earned Maidenhead Athletic Club (MAC) a podium finish at the Mercer Surrey Half-Marathon on Sunday, finishing as the second placed female with a terrific time of 1.26.48, writes Ben Hart.
Three of the club's members also jetted off for an unseasonably warm Berlin Marathon this weekend, with Anthony Hall (3:16:31), Andrew Lowdon (04:18:13) and Shazia Ahmed (05:28:47) all represented the club well, however, Shazia admitted afterwards she’d ‘crashed and burned in the heat'.
Tom and Christina O’Beirne swapped baby monitors for running trainers as they took to the start line of the Barnes Green Running Event for the first time since becoming parents.
Tom came ninth in the Half Marathon, with Christina the 10th female finisher in the 10km event.
Father and son Sam and Steven Gillespie continued the family feel good factor, with impressive runs at the Cancer Research Race for Life 5k.
Steven finished just a second ahead of Sam in 22.24, however, both raised money for a fantastic cause.
Elsewhere there were PBs for Sean Keddy (1:28:35), Derek Philip-Xu (2:02:44) and Marika Karavan (2:32:44) at the Windsor Half-Marathon on Sunday.
MAC also now boasts a new record holder after Pauline Siddons' extraordinary run at the Ufton Court Park Run on Saturday.
Pauline now holds the record for her age category as well as the highest-ever age grading (88.77 per cent) at the Ufton Court run, capping off another successful week for the club.
There will be displays at Windsor Racecourse and Legoland, local fireworks in Burnham and Twyford and smaller displays at schools in the Royal Borough.
