MAC's Waterman tries his hand at paddleboarding in Dinton Pastures

Maidenhead Athletic Club’s Dave Waterman tried his hand at a SUPathlon in Dinton Pastures this weekend. In the second event of its type organised by Barnes Fitness, the race consisted of a 1km paddleboard and transition to a 5km run. A strong wind made life tough for competitors on the water but Dave’s split times were 11.53 and 28.

00, giving him an overall time of 39.55. He was 22nd out of the 56 entries and came first in his M70s age category, faster than the first M60s competitor.

W Refreshed after taking on a challenge to virtually cross the state of Tennessee twice, Anthony Hall completed a virtual Boston Marathon on Sunday. Running the first half of it with club mates he quickly ticked off the miles. He started with 6km on the track, ran a half marathon as part of the club run, followed that with a parkrun with Alex del Campo and finished off with 12kms on the track. He finished in 3.39, which was pleasing after having done very little speed work in the past few months. He’s attempting to go quicker in the virtual London Marathon in October.

W Having stuck consistently to her training plan, Beryl Nyerere tackled the Maidenhead Half Marathon course on Sunday, smashing her personal best by 13 minutes. She finished in 2.57 and was supported by Heather Smith and Shazia Ahmad.

W Jurgen Spencer, who is approaching his 80th year, completed 5k and 10k race walking events virtually as part of an inter-provincial competition which took place throughout South Africa. He raced 5k on Friday on the Hindhay Quarry Road finishing in 32.47 and on Saturday completed 10k on Darlings Lane in 1.07.27.
