Maidenhead’s Katie Crowhurst has been selected to swim at the European Championships by British Swimming.
Katie has been picked in the 24 strong para-swimming squad for the 2020 World Para Swimming Open European Championships, which take place in Funchal, Madeira from May 17-23.
It is the second time in four years that the Portuguese island has been selected to host the event.
The para-swimming national championships in Manchester last week acted as a key opportunity for Britain’s best swimmers to stake a claim for selection.
Also named in the squad are seven-time world champion Alice Tai and Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds. Katie swims for Wycombe District Swimming Club.
Team leader Catherine Gilby said: “This is a great chance for established team members to have a race opportunity that supports their Individual Athlete Plans as we head towards the Paralympic Games.
“In addition, the competition is the perfect environment for our emerging athletes targeting 2024/2028 to gain international experience.”
