Franklin fails to reach World Cup final after error-strewn run in Prague

Windsor’s Mallory Franklin produced an uncharacteristically error-strewn run at the Canoe Slalom World Cup in Prague this weekend, failing to qualify for the final.

Franklin is one of Great Britain’s great hopes for next summer’s Olympics in Tokyo and has already been assured of her place in the team.

But, while her C1 teammate Kimberley Woods claimed a thrilling silver medal, Franklin was watching from the sidelines having failed to make the final.

In the C1 semi-finals Franklin missed her line at the top of a challenging course and wasn’t able to recover.

Forced to paddle back up to go through gates seven and nine she picked up four additional penalty points and was unable to make up time for a spot in the final.

She finished 15th overall, missing the final by three-and-a-half seconds.
