The Senior British League season started perfectly for Cippenham TTC at the weekend.
The club is fielding one team this season in the premier team event in the country, operating in National Division B-4, with all matches being hosted at home.
Four wins from four matches provided the dream start for Cippenham and currently places the team in second position behind a very strong Ellenborough side who have a superior sets aggregate.
Team captain and No.1 player Martin Adams and No.2 player Robert Hansell were unbeaten, winning all their singles and the four doubles. Steve Munson backed them up by winning half of his eight singles while Ricky Hardcastle tasted success twice.
Saturday morning started with a 9-0 win over Reading-based Kingfisher III, and later that day they overcame Horsham Spinners 6-3, recording the same scoreline the next morning against Generation 2.
The first real challenge came on Sunday afternoon against a Foresters team that had lost only narrowly to leaders Ellenborough in the morning.
An entertaining match finished 5-4 in Cippenham’s favour as Robert Hansell won the pivotal encounter with Ryszard Pelc.
