A new county councillor is set to take over the reins in Marlow after the incumbent announced his intention to step down at the next round of elections.
Cllr Richard Scott, who has represented the town on Buckinghamshire County Council for about eight years, confirmed his decision earlier today.
A chartered accountant by trade, Cllr Scott has also been a director for retailers House of Fraser and Moss Bros, as well as also serving on Marlow Town Council and Wycombe District Council – both of which he intends to continue with for the foreseeable future.
He said: “I think what I’ve done [during my time as a county councillor] is bring a business approach to the county council from my finance background and as sole county representative for Marlow I’ve enjoyed working with residents.”
At a meeting on Monday, Alex Collingwood, a Wycombe district councillor, was selected to contest the seat in place of Cllr Scott in May 2017.
