1976: These black and white pictures featured in the Advertiser 40 years ago under the headline ‘A better looking Berkshire is their aim’.
They accompanied a feature put together ahead of a forum sponsored by the Berkshire Society of Architects, which was hoping to stop the ‘gradual decline’ of the area’s appearance by encouraging better liaison between planners, amenity groups and architects.
The pictures were used to highlight examples of where modern buildings did not tone in with old, and lost opportunities.
