An interfaith group in Windsor and Maidenhead held its first Living Library event at the weekend.
The event by The Royal Borough’s interfaith group Windsor & Maidenhead Community Forum (WAMCF) created a safe place for conversations challenging prejudices and stereotypes through dialogue and took place on Saturday, November 11 at Maidenhead Library.
In a Living Library, the books are the people, and the reading is the conversation.
The nine beliefs and faiths in the group were all represented, including Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Baháʼí, Brahma Kumaris, Humanism, Judaism, Islam, and Sikhism.
The public was also invited to ask questions and hold a conversation with the various beliefs and faiths.
Paul Samuels, WAMCF trustee, said: “It was a friendly and welcoming event in which dozens of conversations took place in the Living Library space.
“It's a proven way of helping any group that has been subject to discrimination to challenge prejudice.”
