A celebrated Indian restaurant is preparing to launch a new venue in The Colonnade as part of Shanly Homes’ Waterside Quarter development.

Bombay Story is set to move into Unit B of the waterfront development in the town centre.

Other companies eyeing this key spot have included a fitness studio and Spanish tapas restaurant, El Cerdo.

Bombay Story first opened in Wokingham in 2020, and is now expanding to a new premises in Maidenhead.

Its menu features a ‘full English breakfast’ with an
Indian twist (The Grand Bombay), signature ‘naanwiches’ for lunch, street food dishes and curry for dinner, desserts and award-winning cocktails.

Jey Sachchi and his wife Anita are the owners, both with a love for food, travel and experiences.

The pair said it was important for the business to open a new venue close to Wokingham so the couple can keep a watchful eye over both restaurants.

The restaurateurs are aiming to continue to welcome guests personally to their eateries.

It is hoped the new Waterside Quarter restaurant will be able to host most live music events, special parties and celebrations for guests.

The head chef for Maidenhead, Subash Selvaraj, has been at the Wokingham restaurant since it opened and has more than a decade of experience from across the globe.

The menu is expected to
feature the same ‘tried and tested’ dishes from the Wokingham branch but the company said its chefs are ‘always experimenting’.

A statement from Bombay Story said: “We can’t wait to meet the Maidenhead community, and welcome everyone into our new restaurant to experience the Bombay Story difference.

“We are really excited at the prospect of working closely with a new community, liaising with local residents, businesses and developers we feel there is a great opportunity here for us.

“At the moment, we are only comfortable to say: ‘coming soon’.

“However we will ensure we keep the community very much in the loop throughout.”

Bombay Story recommends following it on social media for upcoming news and events, including progress at Maidenhead.
