Staff at a Waitrose branch in Maidenhead have gone viral on TikTok – with one video racking up millions of views.

The branch, in Moorbridge Road, has been actively posting on the short form social media platform since November as a way to expand its online presence.

Staff feature in videos based on popular TikTok trends on the Waitrose Maidenhead account, which is run by Indigo Ellis and Liv Nathaniel.

One of their most recent videos, posted last week, features two work ‘besties’, Charlie Gray and David Robinson, and plays on a popular soundbite from the 2001 film Zoolander.

The video has been viewed over 2.4million times and liked more than 250,000 times on the platform – which was the world’s most downloaded app in 2022.

Liv said: “We use TikTok ourselves on our personal accounts and we were seeing other Waitrose branches using TikTok to do marketing and funny videos and we loved their content and we just thought it would be a good idea for us to do it as well.”

Indigo added: “It’s a fun thing for people to do and everyone enjoys it”.

The stars of the viral video, Charlie Gray and David Robinson, have even been recognised in the branch.

David has been compared to US president Joe Biden both online and in person.

He said: “Some guy came up to me and said ‘Are you in this TikTok? Who are you supposed to be, Joe Biden?’”

The video has also gained likes and comments from other brands such as the official TikTok page, Magnum Ice Cream and McDonald’s as the video continues to rack up views.

Liv and Indigo were pleasantly surprised by the success of the video and have been grateful for all the comments they have been receiving.

The TikTok videos have also been a newfound form of team building for the branch.

Liv said: “I’ve spoken to people from other sections that maybe I wouldn’t have interacted with on a normal basis so it’s building relationships”.
