It has raised more than £260,000 since it started and aims to bring festive cheer to deserving members of the community.
The Advertiser’s annual Cracker Appeal is back and we are calling for teams to take part in our fun challenge.
It will be held at the Magnet Leisure Centre on Wednesday, December 14 and is followed by a quiz and buffet.
Last year’s competition saw nine teams take part and was won by Shanly Homes.
It features an inflatable assault course, dart tag, pillow warz and more.
Money raised is used to fund Christmas parties and trips for local charities, groups for the elderly and children’s organisations.
Advertiser editor Martin Trepte said: “The Cracker challenge is a great event to be part of.
“Not only is it great fun and a fantastic chance for team building but it’s also in aid of a great cause.
“For more than two decades the Cracker Appeal has been helping to spread Christmas cheer among the elderly, homeless and children with learning difficulties in the area served by the Advertiser.
“Every penny raised goes back to the community and shows those who might otherwise miss out that they haven’t been forgotten in the festive season.”
The appeal has run for more than 20 years and in that time has raised £261,695.
Last year’s fundraising total came to £10,408, which helped 37 organisations and 2,220 people.
Fundraising for this year’s appeal started in the summer with the Advertiser Charity Challenge which raised £1,100.
The cost to enter is £100 per team of up to 10, and £50 per table for the buffet.
