The empowerment of women and girls was discussed at the latest meeting of the Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead Soroptimists.
Sally Radford took the chair for the evening and welcomed guest speaker Hilary Ratcliffe OBE on Wednesday, September 21.
Hilary is a member of the St Albans branch of Soroptimists and received her OBE for promoting gender equality overseas.
Her talk focused on the role undertaken by Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI), which has consultative status at the United Nations.
Jean Tyler from the club said: “She stressed the importance of maintaining the role in order to support the gender empowerment of women and girls throughout the world.”
The group met at Fredrick's Hotel in Maidenhead.
