Readers are being asked to help identify a mystery object which was brought into Maidenhead Heritage Centre.
The ball, which is about 13cm long, appears to be a ‘product of nature’, rather than manufactured and is one of a large number of similar limestone covered flint balls discovered underground at the chalk quarry near Furze Platt in the 1970s.
The ball is on display at the centre in Park Street and if anyone can offer more information please contact Nick Forder, the curator, on 01628 780555.
