An application to demolish the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Marlow Road and replace it with offices has been approved by the Royal Borough.
The church will be demolished and replaced with an office building with associated landscaping, car parking and cycle racks.
The design and access statement that accompanies the application says: “The design is a contemporary interpretation of a pitched roof design, simple and elegant."
The application had attracted a number of community comments which included concerns over the parking provision, the size of the building, and the design.
Maidenhead Civic Society criticised the plans and said they would prefer a more 'architecturally stimulating design' but did say the reduced height of the building was a 'great improvement' from the previous application.
The previous application was refused by the borough in March 2014 and an appeal was dismissed.
The application was submitted by Mr J Richardson on Friday, April 8.
The Royal Borough granted permission on Thursday, July 28, subject to conditions.
