Scorching temperatures were being recorded in the town 30 years ago in 1986.
So many people wanted to cool down in Maidenhead’s open air pool in Cookham Road, staff had to organise sessions and clear out the pool at intervals.
On the hottest day, there were more than 1,100 visitors and the water temperature was just above 72 degrees F.
Town centre temperatures were reaching the top end of the 20s – more than 80 degrees F.
