The council has said it will ‘continue to work’ with Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School to assist it in opening a satellite grammar school in the Royal Borough.
Council leader Simon Dudley (Con, Riverside) said: “Grammar schools are very popular with local parents and we are pro parental choice.
“Our priority is to improve the quality of all our state schools and increase choice. By investing over £30m in secondary schools we are making clear our determination to work with them to improve educational attainment and achieve equality of opportunity for every child in the Royal Borough.”
