A grandmother with terminal lung cancer has raised more than £4,000 for the Cancer Treatment and Research Trust.
Maxine Lewis, 49, of Sawyers Crescent, shaved her head on Saturday evening at an event she began organising with her husband Ralph two weeks ago.
Other fundraising activities included a raffle and tombola.
Maxine had 'walked around town' to drum up interest and donations for the event at SportsAble, which about 300 people attended.
She said of the moment her head was shaved: "It was exhilarating, I feel amazing.
"In this hot weather, it is brilliant."
Children who attended were treated to activities like face painting and a bouncy castle, while adults had access to a bar.
Though she does not yet have a final total, Maxine believes the amount raised to be just under £5,000, including both donations on her online fundraiser and money received at her event.
She added: "I would like to thank everyone who donated to the charity."
