A cafe for the community has been opened at Furze Platt Leisure Centre.
Cllr Hari Sharma (Con, Furze Platt), attended the official opening of the cafe at the Furze Platt Road facility on Thursday, July 7, to cut the ribbon.
He said he thinks this element of the centre was very much needed but will be both a community and leisure centre facility.
He added: “We have had residents express a need for something like this so they don’t have to use the gym but can go and have a drink, or have small meetings there. It has the gym and the pool, people can meet afterwards, or come only for a tea or coffee and use the facilities.
“Myself and other ward councillors will also be having monthly ward surgeries there, we are yet to set a date. It has sufficient parking for people to come along here, rather than at the war memorial where we used to hold them
where there would only be space for two or three cars.”
