Maidenhead United supporters joined together for a minute’s applause in memory of one of their most committed supporters this weekend.
Players and supporters showed their appreciation for Howard Goold ahead of kick-off against Farnborough on Saturday.
Howard passed away suddenly last week at the age of 75.
Howard was one of the Magpies’ most dedicated supporters, having followed the club’s fortunes for many decades and more recently travelled to home and away games from his home in Herefordshire.
Howard also generously supported the club by sponsoring Sam Barratt’s playing shirts and is pictured above receiving signed replica shirts from Sam at York Road earlier this season.
His wife Heather paid tribute to her husband saying: “I’m devastated to have lost such a good person, a wonderful husband and best friend.
“Howard loved supporting Maidenhead United even when we moved to Herefordshire. Following the team news and matches was something that gave him much pleasure.”
Howard dedication and contributions to the club were warmly recognised by supporters at York Road ahead of the club’s 2-2 draw with Farnborough on Saturday.
Maidenhead United said the ‘thoughts of all at the club were with Heather and Howard’s extended family at this sad time’.
During his career, Howard also worked for a period as a proof reader for the Maidenhead Advertiser.
