Maidenhead United announced their second signing of the day on Tuesday with the news midfielder Matt Robinson had signed a permanent deal for the coming season.
Robinson is the Magpies’ seventh summer signing - and the second they announced on Tuesday following the arrival of right back Ryan Bartley.
Robinson joins the club in the National League South after spells with Dagenham & Redbridge, Woking, Boreham Wood and most recently Braintree Town.
According to Wikipedia, he is also an MC, making music under the name of Kamakaze.
On social media, Matt posted: "Very happy to be here, now it’s time to get to work."
Born in Leicester, Robinson began his career in the youth system at Leicester City where he made more than 40 appearances for the youth team over a two-year spell.
He was then offered a two-year contract with Luton Town - then in the Conference Premier - and went on to make 46 appearances for the Hatters, scoring three goals.
While on the books at Luton he spent time on loan at Kidderminster Harriers, Grimsby Town and Woking before joining Dagenham & Redbridge in the National League in 2016. There he made the bulk of his career appearances so far, playing 234 times for the Daggers and scoring 21 goals.
After seven years at Dagenham, he signed for league rivals Woking in 2023 on a two-year deal. He made only 12 appearances for the Cards in that time, going on loan Boreham Wood and Braintree, making 30 appearances for Wood and scoring four goals, and 43 appearances for the Iron where he found the net on three occasions.
Maidenhead have now made seven new signings heading into the 2025/26 campaign. Goalkeeper Jordi van Stappershoef, centre half Manny Onariase, right back Ryan Bartley and left back Jordon Ragguette have bolstered their defensive options.
In midfield they’ve signed Robinson to compliment the attacking instincts of Asher Yearwood - who has signed from step 3 side Gosport Borough.
Striker Corie Andrews has also signed from Oxford City having netted nine times for the club in the National League North.
While no retained list has been released, the club have managed to keep hold of four key players from last season’s squad, in Sam Barratt, Kane Ferdinand, Will de Havilland and Jayden Mitchell-Lawson.
With the club now heading into pre-season, and the league season kicking off in a little under six weeks, more work must be done to bolster the squad and ensure it can hit the ground running in an increasingly competitive division - however, there’s a sense the club have so far made some smart signings for the level.
