Maidenhead United have brought defender Ryan Bartley to Berkshire, making the versatile right-back their sixth signing of the summer.
The 21-year-old officially joins the club on their first day of pre-season training having had a loan spell with Gateshead in the National League at the back end of last season.
He made nine appearances for The Heed in the National League with the North East club finishing the season just a point outside of the play-off places in eighth.
He has been mainly deployed at right back but can also play at centre back.
While part of Derby County’s u21s set up, Bartley also had spells with Hereford and Spennymoor Town in the National League North. He also played in the National League South prior to this while on loan at Eastbourne Borough from Crystal Palace.
A product of the Palace academy until July 2023, Bartley was loaned to Eastbourne in the 2022/23 campaign, making 15 appearances for The Sports and scoring one goal.
He was transferred to Derby County that summer and has several Premier League 2 appearances to his name.
Loan spells to Spennymoor and Hereford followed in 2024 and 2025 respectively before last season’s loan move to Gateshead.
He joins the Magpies following the end of his current contract and went straight into training with his new teammates on Tuesday morning.
Bartley becomes Maidenhead’s sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of goalkeeper Jordi van Stappershoef, left back Jordon Ragguette, central defender Manny Onariase, midfielder Asher Yearwood and forward Corie Andrews.
Four players have also been officially retained from last season’s squad - Sam Barratt, Kane Ferdinand, Will de Havilland and Jayden Mitchell-Lawson - but the club have yet to release a retained list.
United’s squad got back to work ahead of the new season today and will play their first pre-season friendly at Flackwell Heath next Tuesday, July 8 (7.30pm).
