Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley confirmed last week that Jay Mingi would be staying on loan with Maidenhead United until January.
The midfielder arrived at York Road in early October on an initial month’s loan deal, but now looks set to stay until January.
Magpies’ fans will certainly be hoping that’s the case with the midfielder having impressed with his talent and tenacity.
Despite their recent dip in form, results have also improved since Mingi’s arrival with the club drawing away at Yeovil Town – in a match which saw Mingi dismissed – and beating Woking and Wrexham in successive games.
He's also had to be versatile for United, covering in defence for a spate of injured defenders in the recent 7-4 FA Cup defeat at FC Halifax Town.
Mingi, 21, joined Portsmouth in the summer after a lengthy trial period with the club. Following his summer release from Charlton Athletic he was given the chance to gain first team experience with the Magpies and is grasping that opportunity.
Cowley told Hampshire Live last week that he could see Mingi was benefitting from a regular run with the National League side. He told them the club would reassess the situation in January, to see if Mingi is able to challenge for a first team spot at Portsmouth or would benefit from another loan deal, either at Maidenhead or another club.
