Behind the scenes, things have been moving forward with Maidenhead United’s proposed move to a new stadium at Braywick Park, according to CEO Jon Adams.
Late last year the club overcame a significant hurdle when the Royal Borough’s cabinet agreed in principle to sell the club land at Braywick, subject to planning permission being received. Since then, the club was set to undertake further consultation with key stakeholders on and around the site before it They hope to vacate York Road and move to the new ground within the next two or three seasons.
Maidenhead RFC, who would be a neighbour to the new development, has raised concerns, with chairman Steve Bough saying the rugby club would object unless the plans were significantly changed.
Speaking this week, Adams said: “There are no specific changes.
“Things have been moving forward positively with regards to the new stadium move behind the scenes, and hopefully within the next couple of months we’ll have some positive news that we can formally announce on that.
“Soon after we’ll then enter the next stage of positive consultation and engagement with our supporters and the wider community in relation to the move to the new stadium.
“Things definitely remain positive, and we feel upbeat about that at this point in time.”
