Maidenhead United to host Hemel Hempstead Town in first round of the FA Trophy

Maidenhead United will host National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town in the first round of the FA Trophy on Saturday, December 14.

The draw for the first round proper of the competition was on Monday lunchtime. Winning sides will receive £4,500 from the FA Prize fund.

Hemel brushed aside Haringey Borough 4-1 on Saturday to reach the first round with goals from Sam Ashford (two), Jacques Krohomouh and Liam Nash. They are sixth in National League South with 29 points garnered from 16 games, however, their recent league form hasn’t been the best, losing 3-0 to Braintree Town and 3-1 to Concord Rangers.

Slough Town, who were held to a goalless draw by Concord Rangers in the final qualifying round on Saturday, will visit either Maidstone United or Dartford on December 14, if they can make it through tomorrow night’s replay at Arbour Park.

Ben Harris missed a spot-kick for the Rebels during Saturday’s stalemate.

It’s the fifth time this season that Slough have been drawn away from home in their FA competition matches, a point highlighted on Twitter by joint manager Neil Baker.

Reflecting on Saturday’s draw, Baker tweeted: “Not the most inspiring of games today, however lads worked hard throughout and came away with another clean sheet.

“In the draw with work to do Tuesday. Thanks to those who travelled.”
