Maidenhead United begin Berks & Bucks county cup defence against Chesham United

Maidenhead United begin the defence of their Berks & Bucks Senior Cup crown this evening, when they entertain Chesham United at York Road.

The competition, which the Magpies won in August thanks to Christian Smith’s first half strike against Hungerford Town, is a low priority for Alan Devonshire this season, but, on paper at least, the Magpies should be favourites to advance on their own patch.

Chesham last visited York Road in the semi-finals of the competition in 2015, when goals from Danny Green and Adeyinka earned Johnson Hippolyte’s side a place in the final. They went on to beat Aylesbury United at The Meadow, the home of Chesham United, at the end of that campaign. It was Hippolyte’s last match in charge of the Magpies before Devonshire took over for his second spell as boss.

Admission for the fixture against The Generals is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions, while u16s – accompanied by an adult – can watch the match for free.

Should the score be level after 90 minutes the tie will be settled by a penalty shoot out.

The winners of the tie are set to visit Didcot Town in the quarter-finals of the competition.
