Double success for Maidenhead RFC u14s in the Berkshire Cup

The Maidenhead A squad celebrate their Berkshire Cup success

Two terrific performances saw Maidenhead RFC u14s lift the Berkshire Cup in not one but two competitions on Sunday.

Maids had made it through to the finals of both the Main Competition and Development Cup following weeks of matches and some impressive displays.

The Maids A team locked horns with the Rams and, in a well-contested game, came out as 17-10 winners. B Morgan scored two scintillating tries to tip the balance in Maids’ favour. The team received a video message of encouragement during the warm up from World Cup winner Will Greenwood.

The squad included: W Paveley, O Macmillan, B Pidgeon, H Sinclair, M Cochran, S Lee, C Myall (C) , W Keylock, O Hodgson, C Gould , S Richards, H Hall, B Morgan, M Cooley, Rapha, Dawud M, A Bristow.

Having supported the As to victory the B team took on a strong Hungerford side in the Development Cup final. A disjointed first half performance affected by injuries saw Maids come off for the break trailing by two tries.

But just two minutes before the final whistle G Dennis crossed for his second try of the match to make it 19-19 and J Barry held his nerve to slot the conversion to make it 21-19. The B side then put in some truly gritty defence to ensure they came through as victors.

The squad included:  A Norman, Ellis O, C Lawrence, J Calvert, W McKay, W Chandler (C) , G Dennis, J Child, J Barry, T Andrew, C Bellamy , H Mun, K Hern-Smith, Finlay C, Hugo H.
