New striker bags hat-trick as buoyant Marlow HC beat Amersham & Chalfont.

Marlow Men’s 1sts were in buoyant mood on Saturday after chalking up their third straight win with a 5-1 success over Amersham & Chalfont.

Birthday boy Chris Sewell opened the scoring after just 90 seconds and the celebrations didn’t end there. Callum White, the club’s new striker, slotted the second from a corner and then gave the hosts some breathing space with another fine finish. His third of the match, a thumping shot from another short corner, nearly tore through the net to make it 4-0.

Having saved a penalty stroke, Marlow’s keeper Max Charner Davies was beaten by a cruel deflection off a teammate in the 54th minute. But, having helped himself to a hat-trick, White turned provider for Marlow's fifth assisting Matt Bilsland for a cool finish.

They visit Newbury this weekend.

A reshuffled Marlow 2nds team drew 1-1 away at Oxford 2nds on Saturday after missing a host of fine chances to take the points.

Marlow dominated possession in the first half, creating numerous chances but Oxford remained a threat on the counterattack and took the lead mid-way through the half.

Marlow's equaliser didn't arrive until the final 10 minutes. A short corner was cleared off the line but fell kindly for Will Hunter to slot home.

Other results saw the men’s 3rds beat Buckingham 1st 2-0 at home, the 4ths defeated Henley 3rds 2-1 away and the 5ths were held 1-1 at home by Staines 3rds.

The 6ths lost 4-2 at Staines 4ths and the Strollers Vets team enjoyed a very good 5-0 away win at Purley.

The quick reactions of Jo Cox helped Marlow’s Ladies 1sts claim a 1-1 draw with Surbiton 3rds at Pound Lane.

After their win the previous weekend optimism was high going into the clash, but both sides defended well in a goalless first half.

Surbiton broke the deadlock early in the second half after a searching ball into the circle took a couple of deflections and found a way past Dibs Haisman. But Marlow saved their best hockey for the final minutes of the game and deservedly equalised from a penalty corner, Cox flicking the ball home on the post to make it 1-1.

Other results saw the Ladies 2nds beat Phoenix and Ranelagh 3-2 away, with Helen Windsor, Vic Allen and Emily Gillespie scoring the decisive goals. The 3rds drew 2-2 with Milton Keynes 2nds and the 4ths edged past Sonning 3rds 1-0 away. The 5ths played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at home with Wycombe 3rds and the 6ths beat Aylesbury 4ths 14-0. The 7ths trip to Oxford University was cancelled.

W The junior results saw the u18s boys lose 6-3 to Reading, the u16s A boy’s side beat Banbury 4-3 and the u16s A girls defeat Oxford Hawks 8-1. The u14s A girl’s side drew with Reading and the u14s B girls defeated Maidenhead 4-1.
