Joseph Ajose meets his new manager Alan Devonshire

--

Hot on the heels of Ruben Carvalho's signing this weekend, Maidenhead United have added another attacking option to their ranks in the form of wide player Joseph Ajose.

The Magpies revealed on Saturday that Carvalho, 23, had signed after scoring 17 goals and laying on seven assists for Wingate & Finchley in the Isthmian League Premier Division last season.

While this afternoon (Monday), they announced their third signing of the summer with Ajose putting pen to paper on a move to York Road after his spell with EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers came to an end.

Chief Scout Lee Devonshire is excited to have the 22-year-old on board for the 2024/25 campaign.

He said: “Joseph has been at QPR for a few years and at Reading before that.

“A left footed, quick and direct winger who can play across the front line who will bring real pace to our attack. Joseph is another young player with potential to kick on with us.”

The Magpies will be hoping both players can hit the ground running for their new side and have a fruitful season scoring and creating goals.

Carvalho certainly contributed goals and assists in the Blues' Isthmian League play-off charge last season, with 24 goal involvements across 30 games.

Lee Devonshire revealed: “Our awareness of Ruben first came from his days at Rising Ballers and after a stint at Charlton Athletic he found himself back in non-league.

“Over the past 12 months he has really blossomed at Wingate at Step 3.

“A talented attacking midfielder with quick feet, ability to go past a man and strong technique off both feet he has the potential to kick on at Step 1 and beyond.”

Both players are young and potentially exciting attacking additions for a side that's looking to be competitive once again in their eighth straight National League campaign.

Defender Tyrese Dyce was the first player to sign for the Magpies this summer after impressing for close rivals Slough Town in the National League South last season.
