Oldham Athletic 1, Maidenhead United 0

Alex Reid’s early finish condemned Maidenhead United to a narrow defeat on Saturday.

Winless since March, Alan Devonshire’s men are now three points clear of fourth from bottom Torquay United and flirting dangerously with relegation.

A mere three minutes were on the clock when Reid found the back of the net for Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park, his goal beautifully scored in the far corner past Alexis Andre Jr.

The Magpies stopper was called into action in the 14th minute to deny Liam Hogan before Josef Yarney rattled the woodwork on the follow-up.

Bassala Sambou’s effort was also stifled by Andre Jr over 10 minutes later as the home side enjoyed the lion’s share of chances in the first half.

Plenty of work needed to be done after the break and the Magpies came out of the blocks well with captain Alan Massey hooking an effort just off target.

Having got their foot on the ball around the hour mark, Reid almost doubled his, and his team’s advantage with a volley that had to be smartly saved by Andre Jr.

In the dying embers, the Magpies gave it their all with a header floating just inches over the woodwork before the referee blew for full time.

Defeat leaves the Magpies just three points above the drop zone having played a game more than Aldershot Town in 20th and Torquay United in 21st, the only two sides who can realisitcally catch them before the end of the season. Both the Shots and Torquay are also in better form heading into the final few matches of the campaign.

Next up for Maidenhead United is a clash with Barnet at York Road (Saturday, April 22).

Egham Town 3, Windsor 0

After a 3-0 defeat to Holyport on Thursday, Mick Woodham’s Royalists succumbed to the same scoreline against Egham Town on Saturday.

Following an encouraging first half where no goals were conceded, Windsor shipped three in the second 45 minutes with the first scored by former player Excellence Muhemba (50’).

The forward was on target again just 10 minutes later before Lonit Talla (65’) got in on the action.

Windsor face Edgware & Kingsbury at Stag Meadow next (Saturday, April 22). With two league matches left to play, at home to Edgeware & Kingsbury, and away to Virginia Water, the Royalists sit bottom of the table. Despite their precarious situation, they remain only a point behind third from bottom Chalfont St Peter. They need to finish outside of the bottom two to ensure their survival, however, they’ve played more matches than Chalfont and second bottom Oxhey Jets.

London Lions 3, Holyport 0

Sam Lock’s side were unable to emulate their performance against Windsor as they fell to a loss to London Lions on Saturday.

Port look like they will be safe this season and avoid relegation from the Combined Counties Premier Division North, but manager Lock will not allow his players to rest on their laurels.

The young team are back in action swiftly, playing Flackwell Heath next Tuesday (April 18). Port sit 15th in the table and are safe from relegation with five matches still to play.

Elsewhere in the Combined Counties Premier Division North, the Heathens were beaten by Wembley, 3-0, while Burnham lost 2-1 to Reading City at the 1878 Stadium.

The Blues travel to North Greenford United next (Thursday, April 20). It leaves Chris Ayres’ Heathens fifth in the table, on 67 points, two points behind the Blues in fourth on 69 points.

Marlow 1, Uxbridge 1

In the Isthmian League South Central Division, Mark Bartley’s men drew with Uxbridge.

Kai Hamilton-Olise fired Marlow in front in the 50th minute before Aaron Minhas ensured honours were even in the 56th.

With two matches left to play, the Blues have all but secured third place in the division. They’re currently four points above fourth-placed Northwood and fifth placed Hanworth Villa.

The Blues face Binfield next (Tuesday, April 18).
