Maidenhead United youth manager Ivan Harper wants to go 'one better' next season

Maidenhead United youth joint-manager Ivan Harper praised the young Magpies ‘great’ season after they finished runners-up in the Allied Counties Youth League Cup last week.

Maidenhead endured the heartbreak of being pipped to the league title by Hanworth Villa as well as coming out of the final on the wrong end of a 2-0 score line, but Harper believes the boys have still enjoyed a good season.

“Considering it’s our first year with them as new coaches I thought they’ve adhered to us quite well,” said Harper.

“We had an amazing FA youth cup run and to get to the final and

runners-up in the league as well, it’s been a great season from them.

“I think we have eight or nine boys who will be back with us next year as they are all first years, so for a really young side they’ve done really well.”

Harper will be hoping the side can build on their impressive performances this season in the next campaign and beyond.

“We’ll start as we mean to go on,” added Harper. “Pre-season we will work really hard.

“Then we will approach as we did this season and hopefully go one better.”
