Highly-acclaimed chef Simon Bonwick is embarking on a solo cooking adventure at a popular pub in Marlow.

Mr Bonwick will be taking on the lunch service on the last Thursday of each month and the dinner service on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at The Oarsman Bistropub & Wine Bar.

The announcement comes just weeks after the award-winning chef and his family departed the Dew Drop Inn in Hurley after 18 months and handed it over to new custodians.

Before taking over the Hurley pub at the beginning of 2023, the Bonwick family were at the helm of The Crown in Burchetts Green, which was awarded a Michelin star.

As part of his residency at the Marlow pub, Mr Bonwick will treating guests to some classical cooking in the upstairs area of the pub.

A choisi menu featuring six courses will be sent out to a sharing table of 14 guests.

The Spittal Street venue has been under the ownership of duo Nigel Sutcliffe and James McLean since September 2021.

Mr Bonwick said: “Nigel and I have known each other for ages and so he has kindly given me a space to create, hang my art and make a home for my cooking.

“We’ve made the upstairs at the Oarsman into a proper nice little bijou Pad.

“I’ve a shoe box sized kitchen to cook in totally alone, it’s absolutely magical.”

He added: “I’m madly excited to be cooking solo again and looking forward to this challenge, these soirées promise to be intimate, exclusive and luxurious.

“The shared table concept is new to me, it’s fascinating. I’m looking forward to see how it evolves.”

Bookings for Thursday, September 5 and onwards are now open and enquiries can be made by calling 07596517189.
