Photography and handicraft punctuated the displays of fruit and vegetables at the Dorney and District Horticultural Society on Saturday.
Exhibits entered by people hoping to claim a range of prizes at the show included pumpkins, parsnips and pictures.
An assortment of handmade items such as a hedgehog-shaped clock also appeared on the tables set up by the society in the Dorney Village Hall, in Meadow Way. The doors to the hall were opened to the public at 2pm and interested observers took a look at the exhibits.
Members of the group were delighted with the 212 entries, and were thrilled that some items had been entered by children this year.
Peter Bowman, the society’s secretary, said: “The show this year was a great success, with an increase in the number of individual entries to a record level for recent years. The handicrafts and the children’s section were both really encouraging.”
John Akerman won overall in the vegetables and fruit category, Vera Pearson won flowers, Susan Findlay won the domestic division and Ken Barton won adult handicrafts. The overall winner for children under eight was Danny Miles and for over eight was Grace Rolfe.
