Littlewick Green missed out on promotion in Chilterns League Premier 1 by the narrowest of margins after Satur-day’s four-wicket win over Hurley.
They came into the clash level with leaders Pinner on points and that’s how it ended after Saturday’s skirmishes – with both sides locked on 400 points but Pinner sneaking top spot, having won more games.
Warren Fry (6-22) tore through the home side’s top order, leaving them on 27-6 inside 16 overs.
Phil Ridgeway demonstrated some resistance for his seven. Mike Walton, promoted up the order to try and stop the rot, dropped anchor as he and Henry Graham added 54 for the eighth wicket in 22 overs but the hosts were bowled out for 88 in the 40th over.
Despite chasing a low total, Green did not have things all their own way, losing their first wicket with only eight runs on the board and six wickets in total.

Neale (8) and Jack Mason-Apps (10) added 22 for the fourth wicket. A superb diving catch at slip from Ridgeway off Graham sent Neale on his way. Ravi Singh replaced Joban and was gifted the wicket of Mason-Apps who lost his off stump going for a cross batted slog.
Panic appeared to set in as Maskell played an equally horrendous shot to Arshad with similar results.
But the experienced Adrian Hurley (23no) provided the cool head needed to ease his side toward victory.
Hurley’s Sunday team fell to a five-wicket defeat to Welford Park in their final match of the summer at Shepherds Lane. Naeem Akhtar blasted an undefeated 106 runs as Hurley posted 222-4 from their 40 overs, but Park chased their hosts down with five wickets in hand and a couple of overs to spare.
